THE NATURAL SCALE AND OTHER SCALES

On this page you see the natural scale.

This is the line of notes, from low to high, without sharps or flats.

We start on the C and end also on the C.

The natural scale is exactly the same as the scale of C and takes exactly one oktave.

It is very important to know that all the distances in the natural scale exist from whole tones,
except the distances between E and F and between B and C. These distances are only half a tone.

To help yourself remembering this, learn the next four words by heart:

Every Friday Be Cool (E-F   B-C)

When you know the distances between the tones in the natural scale, you can write down every scale,
starting on every tone, because the distances of every scale are the same as those in the natural scale.
